New Original Painting of a Teen Boy Playing his Ukulele

Hafa Adai (Hello) Everyone,

Almost finished with this piece need to add the word GUAM or some other meaningful words on the Latte stone.  Why does this painting mean so much to me?  Well sitting at my art table with a blank canvas in front of me and a pencil in hand  memories of my sons begin to flood my mind and so i decided to sketch this youthful teen boy.

At first sketch the boy was just standing, and steering needed to add some action to him.  Then i recall previously a week or two ago looking at some photos of people in particular a local man wearing a hat and playing a ukulele.

Sketching the body form of a person was not new to me and was not very good at it but i felt challenged to finish this painting.  How to draw? well let's see paper, pencil, photos, and you tube, and lots of practice and make sure you have plenty erasers ready on the other hand...lol

The best part, I love painting with warm bold colors, pencils, and inks...and Oh What A Joy it is to paint this piece remembering my two wonderful sons and the good times we had together.

Will be listed soon on my etsy shop.

See You Next Time,
Janet Marie

A New and Cute Sketch of a Latte Stone Girl

Hi There,

My sketches are starting to flow again a new latte stone girl with her bird perched on the top of her stoney head.  Some flowers growing  wild up there, bird is wearing a mar mar or what you call a flower garland, and a tiny coconut palm tree of to the side.  I'm learning how to turn these images into vector.

I will do my best to start posting again weekly, Thanks Again.

New Original Whimsy Blue Carabao Painting

Hi Everyone,

Have you ever experienced not being able to finish any one painting? and the nest starting to feel a little more quiet?  Well I took some time out to pretty up my garden, to get refocused, and get inspired all over.  You know they say gardening can be therapeutic plus my devotional time, the rewards? now I'm feeling healthier and more alert again.

I slso decided to reach out and encourage a friend even helped a dear friend with her gardening.  It just makes you feel real good inside you know.  I'm really Thankful & Grateful for my family and friends that God has blessed my life with.

Well I'm back and after spending some time in the art room, i finally finished the first piece of my new series of "Whimsy Island Carabaos".  I got the inspiration from the stone or wood carved carabaos that are seen through out the island of Guam.

Will be posting my girl carabao after this one...

Will be listing soon for sale on my Etsy shop...

See You Soon,
Janet Marie

Pen Sketches of some of my Lattestone Characters

Hi Everyone,

I've been down with the flu lately, and possibly artist block? Maybe... You know I decided why not blog about something not painted.  I came across some android photos of some of my midnight doodles from last year.  These are pen sketches of more lattestone characters.

Why do I call them lattestone characters?  Well I think it's because when I start drawing a lattestone shape, I have a tendency to want to draw people out of them.  Lattestones are symblic to our Chamorro culture (Carved stones found throughout the Marianas islands).

I'm going to keep it short & sweet, Enjoy...

New Mixed Media Art in Progress

Hi Everybody,

Here are some of my new mixed media art still not finished with them yet but will be soon.  I'm still deciding whether I should list them on my etsy shop or place them at the Two Lovers Gallery Store? Hm mm?

Sketched a contemporary youthful looking girl here loves her pet carabao. My sister Jen gave me some vintage sheet music and collaged some on to my artwork.

Almost finished with another cute latte Stone Girl Character.  Lot's of mixed media here and cute colorful latte stones not quite finished with her yet but will be soon.

I had request for more whimsical paintings of  Coconut Thatch Roof Houses and beach scenes.  Collaged background with some scrapbook paper, and acrylic paints.  More of these cute coconut houses to come.

You know I've been thinking about my children alot these days especially my nineteen year old daughter Kiara who moved away last year. I'm thankful and so appreciate all my children for all there love for us, there efforts, labors, with all the ups & downs and everything else in between, with all my love to you...

Well ...Oh! almost forgot..tee...hee...hee... I have two more still living with me my third oldest son Derek he's eighteen and wings are flapping or at least practicing Hahaha.., and then there's little eight year old Abby girl, I love and cherish them all.

If you find yourself thinking about them alot, and there's love, if you find yourself surrounded by youthful, lively, energetic teens who you care about and pray for (church teens @ Victory Chapel).  Then the inspiration comes get your pencil and paper out...

... started jotting down with pencil in hand words, thoughts of my children, tropical beaches, barbecue fellowships, cute boy and girl carabaos, coconut thatch houses, whimsical colorful latte stones, whimsical koko birds, etc...

Finally I decided that I'm going to paint youthful boys and girls at the beach scenes, etc...Lots of ideas taped to my table lamp.  I hope you don't mind me sharing some inspiring moments of my life...See you next post.

Hi Everyone,

Just finished this batch of ACEO's (Art Card, Editions, Originals) or Artist Trading Cards.  These Art Prints are mounted on Stampboards.  Glued some magnets on these so that you can place them on your refrigerator or any where magnetic.

Because they are locally homemade and multi media, each art piece has a different texture, sanded, and sealed.  I used different mediums and application techniques on these.  My ACEO's/ATC's will be on sale at the Holiday Art & Craft Fair event at the "Top of the Mar" in Nimitz Hill, Guam .... See You There!...

Getting Ready for Guam's Holiday Art and Craft Fair

I finally put the last coat of gloss sealer on my newly finished paintings.  Bright, bold and whimsical these latte stone boys and girls, red carabao's, and a place called Latte Stone Villa.  I think it's all coming together now my characters and the story line that is for these paintings.

Here is cute boy Latte Stone Pedro and his pet Carabao.  Pedro loves to hitch his Carabao onto the cart and go for a ride down to the beach for a swim on Tumon Bay.  Pedro is wearing his favorite comfortable blue t-shirt even though it is a bit worn out and oh ya he's gotta wear his Zories too.

Looking back to April - Anna's Bridal Shower

 Hafa Adai (Hello) Everyone,

Looking back the month of April was a very busy & exciting month for me, the highlight was that we had the privilege of helping design & decorate Anna's Bridal Shower.  Kiara my daughter designed the party favor tags, banner, and stars.

Jan Marie (that's me) designed the "Special Notes for Anna Cork board" and the note tags that go along with it.  In addition the Wedding party favor tags.   Anna's friends helped in a big way they are what made this bridal shower come together quickly.  They filled the purple & silver balloons with helium, used fishing wire to hang the stars, tied and fluff the Organza, and added lovely purple Orchids.

Who was spear headed this fabulous bridal shower?  The sponsor's Annie Benavente who was the M.C. for the event, and the mother of the bride-to-be Debbie.  They did a wonderful job from beginning to end.

Finally SPECIAL THANKS to all who volunteered there time & efforts, finances, etc. it is a labor of love, that made this this a special bridal shower for Anna.

"May the Lord reward you for all you have done..."
